Possibilities

Oh the rapture of possibilities. And the fear of unrealized dreams.

I have the possibility of a full time counseling position. There is an immediate opening that I just learned about. It has not even posted anywhere. I e-mailed the contact and they want to set up a meeting.

Fervent prayers from my house.

I want a nap

I am so tired today. Tired enough that I cried at work. And I didn't even have a reason to.

Well, maybe I did, but not at the time I cried.

Shilo, our mama cat, died last week. I got her 6 years ago when she was about 7 weeks old. She had five 2 week old kitties. Thursday evening when the babies were crying and crying and crying I realized I hadn't seen Shilo all day. When I hadn't seen her by Friday morning I was getting worried and started praying for her to come home. About 10 a.m. Trevor called me and let me know that he had just found her. Then one of the babies died before I got home with milk replacement formula and kitty bottles.

So I have been feeding babies. I don't like 2 a.m. feedings.

But last night they slept from 11:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. But I am still tired from the other nights of no sleep.

Saturday I went to prom. It was my first prom and even though I spent the night in the foyer checking tickets, etc. it was a fun night and all the kiddos seemed to have a good time and I had a good time hanging in the foyer with friends from work.

I told you about the counseling position situation. I have applied for 3 other positions but not even an interview has resulted. I was told about an internship available for next year and was asked for a resume. Then the next day I was told never mind, it had been promised to someone else.

Then Sat. at prom, someone told me that one of our remaining counselors had accepted a position at a different school. I also found out that no one was supposed to tell and everyone was relieved when I found out because they wanted me to know but couldn't tell. Then today I found out that our other counselor is also going to another school, leaving us with 2 openings. This is also something no one was supposed to know yet.

So here is the run down:

  • I need an internship, none are available
  • Have an interview, don't get the job
  • Asked for a resume, then told never mind
  • My cat died leaving me with 4 babies to hand feed
  • I am having to get up in the night and I am tired
  • I have major homework and no time
  • Brandi has 3 soccer games this week
  • Matthew leaves next week NEXT WEEK!
  • I need to get my house clean before Sunday so people can come over
  • About 20 other things I don't want to blog about
  • Did I mention I am tired?
  • And feeling overwhelmed?

So when I was talking to the intern principal, out of nowhere I just started crying. I was really embarrassed, but lucky for me she gets it and also lucky I was not in an interview or a meeting, just a friendly chat.

So, my dear friends, can I ask a huge, HUGE favor of you? If you believe in prayer and that God hears and answers our prayer, could you pray for me to get a counseling job for next year? and if you want to be even more specific, how about asking for one of the ones at my school.

Politics of Getting a Job

Both of the secretary jobs I applied for got filled and I didn't even get an interview. I was a bit bummed about that, until I found out that I probably never had a shot to begin with. To tell you why, I have to go to what happened yesterday.

Yesterday morning I needed to take my son's pickup in to get fixed. I drove my car and stopped at the Urban Botanic office to pick up an order for a workshop I was going to do (was because the hostesses daughter ended up in the ER so we rescheduled) while Ben drove the pickup to the auto place. I picked Ben up on the way home. I said that I should stop in at the JR. High and talk to the pricipal about if I was coming back since he hadn't called me. Ben said that they were having a fire alarm problem that he needed to check out, so we swung by there. I talked to the principal in the front office and he said "Yes, you are coming back. But we are redoing the job description. Why don't you come back to the office and we will chat with the vice-principal." So we head on back to his office.

Come to find out, they are not sure if my job will even be in existence but they are thinking of rolling it into the tracker job along with a couple other things. And they also have 2 openings for ESL (English as a second language) teachers. Actually, that is what they are calling it, but it really is a guided study hall. Since both the ESL and whatever form my job is taking will be new positions, they have to open them up for interviews. I have to re-apply and re-interview in order to do one of the jobs. They already told me which job they want me in, but would I please re-apply online as soon as I got home so I can "interview" so that I can have that job? I re-sent my application as soon as I got home and was sent an e-mail from the vice-principal immediately asking for an interview. Silliness I think. We all already know that I have the job, and this is just a formality- a district policy. (well only sometimes. I also found out that in another place in the district, that they can change job titles and move employees around changing their job and not have to post them as open or re-interview. Very selective how it works. All politics I am sure).

Now, about the secretary job. I also found out that there was a part time secretary that was going to take over the lead secretary job. But because of the above policy, they had to post it as open. No wonder I got an e-mail saying the job was filled the very day the listing closed.

Now I just have to go "interview" for my new position. And I can take my pick of either one. The ESL would get me teaching again, and it pays more than I was making (not as much as the secretary, but still $3/hour more is still $18/more a day and $90 more a month.) I don't know how much the other position will pay, they were still figuring that out when I talked to them. So I will probably pick the higher paid job.

Now, if I could only get them to throw in benefits...
