Stumped, again

I went to the doctor today. He asked me the usual questions and then looked at my swollen foot. Then he picked it up and poked and prodded and poked some more. Then he looked back at his computer screen. For a long time. Staring at it as if the answer would come to him in a pop up screen.

Finally he sent me for an x-ray.

Then he stared at the x-ray.

Then he had me come look at the x-ray.

The screw in my foot is in a good position and has not moved- (obviously I don't have a screw loose). Finally he looked at me and said what he always says to me and those words I always hate hearing from him:

"Nothing is ever easy with you, is it."

A statement, not a question. Because every. single. time I end up with endless questions, blood work, weird symptoms, tests, specialists and they can never find what the problem is.

He is hoping that it is something with the screw, so he made me an appointment with the podiatrist that put the screw in 5 years ago. And then he said, "I am really hoping that he will say there is something wrong with the screw. But I am afraid he won't."

I just tell him I am only here to put his university training and knowledge to the test.

And now, after all that poking and prodding? Pain.

Indeed.
